‘Navaratri’: Poem by Saanvi Chaurasiya, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park

In the autumn skies, a festival doth arrive,
A time of celebration, a time to thrive,
Nine nights of Navratri, a dance so divine,
A time to honour the goddess, a time to entwine.

With garlands of flowers, and lights aglow,
The streets come alive, as the dancers show,
Their graceful movements, a symphony to behold,
Their footsteps in time, as the music doth unfold.

Goddess Durga, a powerful force,
A symbol of strength, a symbol of course,
Her nine avatars, each one a gem,
A reminder of the power within.

The drums beat loud, the cymbals ring,
As the dancers twirl, their spirits take wing,
Their joy and devotion, a sight to see,
A celebration of life, a celebration of glee.

The nights pass by, the days fade away,
As the festival comes to an end,
But the memories remain, a treasure to keep,
A time of joy, a time to reap.

The fire of Durga, it burns bright and true,
A symbol of strength, and courage too,
She rides her lion, with grace and poise,
And vanquishes the demons, with her fierce noise

So let us celebrate, with dance and song,
The beauty of Navratri, the beauty that’s strong,
A time of celebration, a time to be,
A celebration of life, a celebration of glee
