Naina Avtr becomes India’s first AI actor, makes debut 

India has welcomed its first-ever AI actor with the debut of Naina Avtr, created by Avtr Meta Labs, who stepped into the spotlight through Truth & Lies, a micro-drama series released on Instagram Reels. The series, crafted entirely by an all-women production team, unfolds over a single night in Mumbai and explores themes of friendship, betrayal, and trust, delivered in sharp, one-minute episodes tailored for the fast-paced digital audience.

What sets Naina apart is her unique design philosophy. Unlike many Western AI avatars that lean heavily on cinematic finesse, Naina has been built to embody Indian emotionality, cultural nuance, and everyday relatability. From expressions to tone, her performance aims to feel rooted in local sensibilities. In Truth & Lies, she shares screen space with human actors, supported by meticulously synced eyelines, lighting, and shadows, creating an illusion of seamless coexistence between digital and real performers.
