With the spirit of curiosity and collaboration in the air, Apeejay’s IB School, Apeejay School International, Panchsheel Park, welcomed parents to its much-awaited Middle Years Programme (MYP) Orientation. The event served as a meaningful launchpad for the academic year 2025–26, offering parents an insightful glimpse into the IB philosophy, the school’s forward-thinking vision, and the enriching journey that awaits their children. Marking the official ‘Back to School Week’, the event welcomed an enthusiastic cohort of parents and students, setting an energetic and informed tone for the year ahead.

Held in the AV Room, the orientation commenced against the backdrop of a thoughtfully curated presentation showcasing the school’s vibrant culture, academic ethos, and an inspiring glimpse of what lies ahead for learners and their families.

Ms Neha Sharma, Vice-principal of the school, addressed the gathering and said, “The past month felt deserted, we were eagerly waiting at Gate No 4 for our lovely students to return.” She emphasised and shared the stellar IBDP results, where she mentioned 40% scored above 40 points, 100% diplomas awarded! I’ve seen these students grow from PYP-3 to now; it’s a proud, emotional journey.
She highlighted the school’s focus on holistic development through enriching extracurriculars and global collaborations like Korean and French partnerships. With an open-door policy, parent-partner programs, and upcoming Olympiad mentoring, the school is all set to empower learners with global exposure, student agency, and academic excellence. “Welcome, MYP! Let’s make 2025–26 extraordinary,” Ms Sharma said.

Ms Sonali Saxena, MYP Coordinator, opened the session with a warm and gracious welcome, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the presence and support of the parents. She began by offering a comprehensive overview of the IB Middle Years Programme, highlighting its unique interdisciplinary connections and core philosophy. Central to her address was the emphasis on holistic development, intercultural understanding, and the student-centric approach that defines the MYP. “The student,” she said, “is not just a learner today, but the leader of tomorrow.”
She elaborated on the aims and objectives of the MYP, walking the audience through the learning frameworks and key milestones, including the student-led exhibition, which is an authentic demonstration of IB learners’ depth of understanding and self-awareness. Furthermore, she detailed the five Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills that support lifelong learning and explored the ten IB Learner Profile attributes that the programme aspires to inculcate in every student.
A pivotal section of the presentation focused on the integral role parents play in a student’s MYP journey. Ms Saxena shared how parental support can deeply enhance student engagement across subjects like Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Sciences, Mathematics, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Physical & Health Education, and Design. The MYP assessment cycle was also clearly explained, offering parents clarity on how student progress is evaluated.

Following this, Dr Anjali Singh, Assistant MYP Coordinator, took the centre stage to discuss the school’s enrichment programmes and the integration of future-ready technologies into the curriculum. She also shed light on the diverse after-school sports and extracurricular activities that support overall development. “Together,” she emphasised, “we can shape thinkers who are self-reliant, reflective, and responsible learners.”
In addition to academic insights, parents were also familiarised with key logistical and operational protocols to ensure a smooth academic journey for every learner. Detailed information was shared regarding the school uniform expectations, transport arrangements, and day-to-day facilities available on campus. The code of conduct for students was clearly outlined, focusing on building a respectful, responsible, and inclusive learning environment.
The orientation concluded with an interactive session, where enthusiastic parents posed questions, engaged in dialogue, and received insightful responses. Teachers from various segments like sports, performing and visual arts, language, and class tutors personally introduced themselves to the parents, laying the foundation for strong school-home partnerships in the year ahead. Moreover, new additions to the teacher, such as a school counsellor and a career counsellor, were also introduced.

“It was an amazing day, everything was explained in great detail. All our queries were addressed, and I’m leaving feeling truly satisfied,” Ms Mukta Khetterpal, mother of Ryan, a student of MYP-5, shared.
The orientation concluded on a promising note, fostering strong parent-school partnerships and setting the tone for a transformative year ahead.
