Archee is a dedicated student currently pursuing the BA B.Ed programme at Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram. She is driven by a deep passion for teaching and working with children. Drawn to the university’s strong focus on experiential learning and value-based education, she chose the institution to nurture both her academic growth and personal development in a supportive, practice-oriented environment. Read edited excerpts of this interview as she shares how the university is helping her develop both subject knowledge and teaching skills for career as an educator:

How would you describe your overall learning experience in the B.A B.Ed programme so far?

My learning experience has been very enriching. The programme is well-structured and gives us a strong foundation in both subject content and pedagogy. The classroom environment is interactive, and the faculty encourages discussions rather than rote learning. I feel the programme has helped me grow not only as a student but also as a future teacher.

In what ways has the university helped you develop both subject knowledge and teaching skills for your future career as an educator?

The university follows a very practical and holistic approach. We learn through lectures, peer teaching, micro-teaching, school visits and regular assignments. This helps me connect theory with real-life classroom situations. The faculty guides us on lesson planning, classroom management, assessment techniques and child psychology, which has strengthened both my conceptual knowledge and my teaching skills.

Can you share an experience from classroom teaching, internships or school exposure that has strongly influenced your growth?

During my internship, I got the opportunity to observe classes and interact with students directly. One moment that stayed with me was when I helped a student who struggled with reading. I used simple phonetic strategies, and within a few days, I saw improvement. It made me realise how small interventions can create big differences for children. That experience strengthened my confidence and made me more committed to becoming a compassionate educator.

What are your future aspirations?

My aspiration is to become a dedicated educator who contributes meaningfully to students’ learning and growth. I hope to work in schools where I can apply innovative teaching methods and create a positive learning environment. In the long term, I also want to pursue higher studies and engage in educational research so that I can continue improving my practice and supporting the learning needs of children.
