My trip to Andaman & Nicobar Islands – A TRAVELOGUE!

This summer vacation I went to the famous islands of Andaman with my family and cousins for 5 days. It was a 5-hour flight from Mumbai to Port Blair, the capital of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. On the day we reached Port Blair, we checked into the hotel and refreshed ourselves. After lunch, we went to the famous Cellular Jail in Port Blair. There I learnt about the struggles of our great freedom fighters and then witnessed the amazing light show in the evening. It was a great day 1. The next day, we took a cruise to Havelock Island and then a boat from there to the Elephant Beach. This beach is well known for different adventurous activities. So, my cousins and I decided to explore a few of them. We decided to try Parasailing.

We were flown up in the sky, fastened to a parachute that was attached to a boat, moving at a great speed. The view of the entire island was spectacular. I really enjoyed parasailing and took a good number of pictures to cherish these moments. Then we decided to go for a high-speed jet-ski ride. To ease out from the adventurous rides, we opted for a fun ride – an 8-seater sofa ride, which was really bumpy. It was hilarious and absolutely relaxing to energise ourselves. The best part of the beach visit was Snorkelling, where we witnessed beautiful corals, underwater plants, and different types of fish, including clown fish – the all-favourite Nemo.

It was a breathtaking experience and I would definitely not miss it given another chance! On the third day in Havelock, we went to the famous beach, Radhanagar Beach, which is Asia’s cleanest beach. There me My father and took a dive in the water and played in the waves. After a great deal of laughter and fun and refreshing ourselves with tender coconuts, we headed to Neil Island. The famous rocky beach, Lakshmanpur Beach, was our first sightseeing spot. I enjoyed the pleasant sunset and the reflection of the golden rays of the sun fading out to its horizon over the ripples in the water-bathed rocks.

I collected unique and peculiar rocks and seashells and wondered at nature’s magic in forming such a beautiful world. We, then, went shopping and bought a few souvenirs like fridge magnets, keychains, jewellery, and wall hangings made out of seashells. Finally, we reached our rooms to retire on the cozy beds. On Day 4, the final day of our trip, we went to the Natural Bridge, a popular natural rock formation on Neil Island, formed by the erosion of waves over time. It was a unique and adventurous experience to walk on the rocks and witness crabs and sea creatures, including octopus, creeping just under our feet.

It was a scenic beauty and we did not miss snapping pictures. We then set out for Bharathpur Beach, with all the plans to enjoy the clean waters of the Bay of Bengal, one last time before leaving to the mainland. But to our dismay, the water was shallow and full of seaweeds. Yet, this plight did not hold us back. I still went into this shallow water and enjoyed playing amidst the seaweeds; a different kind of experience altogether. After the beach vibes, I again took a cruise and returned back to Port Blair.

It was a tiring day, and we were all exhausted. It was time to pack up our sandy, wet clothes and the memories. We reached the Sri Vijayapuram International Airport to board the flight back to our home in Mumbai. After reaching, I wondered, “What a great trip!”. Indeed it was a wonderful trip to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and I eagerly await my next opportunity to visit these beautiful islands
