Student years often define the foundation of a person’s character. For Vandana Kalia, her journey at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, Jalandhar was an enriching blend of academics, sports, and cultural experiences. Even today, as the Entertainment Secretary of the Jalandhar Ladies Gymkhana Club, she credits her grooming and confidence to her alma mater and its nurturing teachers.
When you look back at your school years, what emotions come to mind?
I feel very happy. Though opportunities were fewer then compared to today, we enjoyed everything in the simplest way. The memories are still fresh in my heart.
Which subjects and activities did you love most as a student?
English was always my favourite subject, and I pursued higher studies in the same field. I also actively participated in annual functions and cultural programmes. On the sports side, I captained the basketball team.
So you were quite an all-rounder! Do you think Apeejay Mahavir Marg shaped that versatility?
Yes, definitely. The school encouraged us to participate in everything—be it academics, sports, or culture. That gave me confidence and made me versatile.
What about your teachers? Any lessons you still carry?
All my teachers were extremely cooperative. I was in their good books and learned so much from them. The confidence you see in me today is entirely due to their grooming.
How has your schooling helped you in your current life and role?
I’m often appreciated for being confident, articulate, and active in society. My schooling and the blessings of my teachers are the reason I can handle responsibilities successfully, both professionally and socially.
