Rashmi Srivastava wanted her son Sanskar to be enrolled in a good mass communication institute that could enhance his soft skills alongside academic advancement. The mother, who works as the executive assistant to the CEO (retail) at Airtel, went on to choose School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC), Apeejay Stya University (ASU), for her son. Sanskar, who is now in his fourth year of college, recently bagged a job at Mographix Digital Pvt Ltd, an advertising firm. Rashmi tells us more about her son’s journey:
Why did you pick SJMC for your son?
Sanskar aimed to study Mass Communication since he was in class XI. When we visited the Apeejay Stya University (ASU) campus, I got a positive vibe. My son and I were quite impressed when we interacted with the dean of SJMC and other faculty members. I was confident that it would be the right place for a young boy trying to explore a new academic field.
What have the past four years at SJMC been like for Sanskar?
It has been a very good journey. Sanskar used to be an introvert and I wanted him to open up, which is something his college has been successful at. He is more confident and outspoken now and is excited about his new professional journey. He got a lot of exposure at Apeejay through guest lectures, workshops, interaction with industry professionals, and participation in a range of co-curricular events. Apeejay definitely lived up to our expectations.
Did Apeejay help him get his first job?
SJMC conducted an event that was attended by a representative of the company. After discussing with the professors, Sansksar was called and told about the job opportunity at the company. He prepared his profile and shared it with his professor, who then forwarded it to the concerned person in the company. Sanskar joined Mographix last month and is currently on probation.
