Share your recent achievements.
Recently, I participated in the Punjab state swimming championship held at the PAU Swimming Pool, Ludhiana. I bagged two Bronze medals in the 4x100m freestyle relay and 4x200m freestyle relay. I also represented Punjab at the Junior National Water Polo Championship held in Bangalore at the Basavanagudi Aquatic Centre. Now, I am preparing for the District School Games.
Who is your inspiration behind swimming?
At first in 2023 I started swimming just as a life saving skill but it slowly evolved as my passion and Michael Phelps became my inspiration. He was an Olympic swimmer who held several world records and has the most gold medals in the Olympic history-23 out of 28 medals. He made his Olympic debut when he was only 15 years old.
How did Apeejay School support your journey?
The school has been very supportive. They provide flexibility in my schedule to accommodate training and competitions. Their encouragement and understanding are crucial for balancing academics and swimming. I have always received constant encouragement from my teachers and classmates. The school celebrates our achievements, which always boosts my confidence.
Share your training regime.
My training regime is quite demanding. I reach the swimming pool by 4:30 pm. I begin with land warm-ups and stretches, followed by swimming practice from 5 pm to 8 pm, Monday to Saturday. During vacations/holidays, I practice twice a day – morning and evening sessions.
How has swimming honed your personality?
Swimming has made me more disciplined, confident, and patient. It has also taught me time management, because I have to balance studies and sports together. Most importantly, it has taught me a never-give-up attitude.
What are the challenges you face during swimming, and how did you overcome them?
One big challenge is balancing academics and training. Sometimes I also face physical tiredness and competition pressure. I overcome these by staying focused, following a routine, and taking guidance from my coaches and parents.
