‘My hope to win’

Published

on

In my school there is a pool
Filled with clean blue water,
Besides which, during the recess,
I used to sit with my friend, and we chit-chat

Gone are those days, as came a deadly virus
Slaughtering and making people seriously sick.
It shattered mankind across the world
Be they young or old, rich or poor, thin or thick.

The contagious disease of five letters and two numbers
Came from the North before onset of summer,
Shuttered everything and locked us inside our houses
It’s been almost two years, and we continue to suffer.

I miss my school, my friends and my teachers
Their loving touch, warm hugs and laughter
But the thing I miss the most
Is that pool, my best friend and our chatter patter.

Still I have not lost my hope
As I know there will be an end to this plight.
Just we need to be patient and follow some rules
Together we can defeat the virus and win this fight.
