My favourite subject!

My favourite school subject is math. Numbers are all around us, as we use them while shopping, playing games, and counting money. I started learning math by using real objects, sorting, and counting them. Math feels magical because it helps us solve problems and puzzles.
In math, there are many concepts, including number sense, fractions, money, length, weight, capacity, time, and temperature. Number sense involves understanding numerals, number names, place value, face value, and ascending and descending order. This knowledge helps me grasp numbers and their relationships.

Money is another important aspect; it’s the currency we use to buy things. Different countries use different currencies, such as pennies, rupees, euros, and dollars.
Shapes also help us see the world in a new way—like spotting stars in the sky, counting circles, and identifying objects. For example, when I learn about addition and subtraction, it feels like I’m uncovering the secrets of keeping track of what I have. If I have five apples and give two to my friend, I can easily figure out that I have three apples left. It’s great to know I can solve these kinds of problems on my own!
Math also plays a crucial role in developing critical thinking skills. It teaches us how to approach problems and find solutions through logical reasoning. Whether it’s figuring out the best route to take on a trip, planning a party within a budget, or even managing a daily schedule with timelines, math is an invaluable tool. This problem-solving mindset is something I can apply in every area of my life, helping me make better decisions and think creatively.
Finally, math is like a universal language that everyone can understand. No matter where you go in the world, math connects us and helps us communicate ideas. When I visited Singapore last week, I was able to convert Singapore dollars into Indian rupees, which helped me understand the prices of things I bought. Math teaches us how to think logically and reason through problems, skills that are helpful not just in math, but in life, too.
In conclusion, math is my favorite subject because it’s fun, challenging, and full of possibilities. I love completing my math books at the beginning of each session.
