Ms. Monica Sharma, a proud parent of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park alumna Veralika Sharma, reflects on her daughter’s remarkable journey. From a young age, Veralika demonstrated a natural curiosity and a keen interest in understanding human behavior, which inspired her to pursue a career in psychology. Currently in her first year of BA (Hons) Psychology at Ambedkar University, Veralika continues to excel in academics. In this interview, Ms. Sharma shares her thoughts on Veralika’s choices, achievements, and aspirations.

Could you share which course Veralika is currently pursuing and where?

Veralika is in her first year, pursuing a BA (Hons) in Psychology at Ambedkar University, Kashmiri Gate. It’s a very prestigious university, and we’re proud of her.

How did Veralika’s interest in psychology develop?
Right from the beginning, Veralika showed an interest in psychology. She has always had a sharp observing power and was naturally curious about human behavior. By the time she was in Class 8 or 9, she told me she wanted to pursue psychology in higher education.

It’s a unique choice in today’s rat race of engineering and medicine. What inspired her to opt for humanities?

She has always been inclined toward social causes and wants to contribute to the community. Her social nature and passion for understanding people motivated her to choose humanities over the conventional streams.

How was Veralika’s academic journey at Apeejay School?

Veralika studied at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park from class 1 to 12. Her time there was very rewarding, though there were some challenges. During Class 5 and 6, she faced a slight slowdown, which I think was due to the transition to higher classes and stricter discipline. However, with time, she adapted and thrived.

Which subjects interested her the most during school?
She excelled in English and social science. Veralika scored 99 in English in Class 10 and 98 in Class 12 board exams. These subjects truly resonated with her.

What were her extracurricular interests?
Veralika was very active outside the classroom. She was part of the dance society, participating in both Indian classical and western forms. She also enjoyed singing and was a part of the school’s sports club, with volleyball being her favorite sport.

How would you describe your experience as an Apeejay parent?
It has been an excellent experience. The school provided a safe and nurturing environment for her growth. The teachers were always supportive and guided us well during PTMs.

What are Veralika’s future aspirations in psychology?
Veralika plans to complete her BA and pursue a PhD in psychology. Ambedkar University offers a direct PhD program after the four-year undergraduate course, so she’s focused on achieving that goal.
