Parenting is an essential aspect when it comes to determining a child’s growth and development. There is an adage: Parents are our first teachers followed by the teachers. It’s important to give the best of both worlds to your child. If you wish to see your child progress, you must choose a school that values holistic development.
Therefore, Pooja Sejwal, mother of Ahaan, a student of KG, studying at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park says that the teachers have become second mothers to him, transforming his personality 360 degrees.
Excerpts from the interview:
What made you choose this particular school for your child?
My first and foremost reason for choosing this school was its proximity to the place where I reside. Moreover, there is no discrepancy in transportation. This school is not just academically reputed, but they intend to help a child excel outside the books as well.

Is he active in any extracurricular activities?
Ahaan is an incredibly active child who loves to participate in various activities. He loves to take part in public speaking and actively engages in anchoring the morning assembly. Moreover, he is also actively involved in drama, and annual functions and has now become a member of the sports club and the abacus club too.
How has your experience been thus far?
I am more than 100 percent satisfied with the school. Whether it be academics or extracurricular activities, this school takes complete responsibility for the holistic development of each child.
Has he improved ever since he joined the school?
When Ahaan joined the school, his vocabulary and speaking skills (voice) were not clear. Over time, with the help of such exceptional and dedicated teachers, he is doing well in the class.
What are his favourite subjects at school?
He loves to explore languages like English and Hindi. Other than that, he also has a knack for Math. At such a young age, he has an extensive vocabulary – all thanks to the teachers here.
How do you encourage your child to study at home?
My son and I have a set routine. Once I am back from the office, we sit and discuss his day at school. I have never really forced Ahaan to study at home, as he is keen on completing his homework on time. He loves to read storybooks. Encouraging your child to explore a variety of books, not just those from the syllabus, can have a significant impact on their reading skills.
What is the teaching methodology?
The teachers don’t just provide bookish knowledge but try to implement practical learning like teaching them visually and helping them learn through Jolly Phonics. These techniques have instilled a sense of responsibility within Ahaan, enabling him to develop good study habits.
Are PTMs held regularly?
The best highlight about these monthly meetings is that the teachers don’t just provide us with the feedback of our child, rather they ask us to know if there is any room for improvement for teachers when it comes to teaching.
Define your parenting mantra.
I don’t have a mantra. Whether you are working or not, just make sure to take time out and listen to what your child has to say. Make sure to pay attention and understand what he/she is trying to convey.
