Due to heavy rainfall and an orange alert issued by the weather office for certain areas of Mumbai, all government and private schools in the city will remain closed on July 20. This decision has come as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and staff.
The impact of heavy rain has been significant, causing disruptions in train services on Wednesday. Responding to the situation, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has ordered the early closure of government offices in Mumbai and neighbouring regions. Such a measure aims to facilitate people’s timely return to their homes and avoid any inconveniences caused by the inclement weather.
Moreover, Maharashtra Chief Minister has declared that schools in areas affected by heavy rainfall will remain shut. However, the final decision on school closures will be made by the local administration, taking into consideration the prevailing weather conditions in each respective area.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and residents are advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and announcements from local authorities for their safety and well-being.
Apart from Mumbai, the weather office has also issued a red alert for neighbouring Raigad and Palghar districts. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in these areas, due to which, schools in these districts will also remain shut today.
