For men who want to look sharp in summer, the most stylish trends, outfits and styles are here. Freelance fashion designer-cum-costume stylist Kumari Ritu explains it all. Lately, the alumna of School of Design and Visuals Arts at Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram has been intrigued by men’s fashion, design and style. She says, “When you look at the history of men’s fashion, you can find a lot of unique, creative trends that still catch our attention in today’s society. Depending on the fashion category for guys and the current trends, you can explore a lot.” In this article, Ritu highlights fashion styles and outfits for men to ace their look this summer.
Share a few tips for men that will up their style statement this summer
Some guys always seem elegant and well-dressed. You get the idea that they don’t have to put much effort into their look, and yet it works perfectly. Are there any male style secrets or tips that they follow? There surely are. Let us call them principles, and in this case, these people are aware of them and know how to implement them.
Some fashion tips or the principles are:
1. Accept & understand your body type – The key to effectively obtaining a strong sense of personal style is understanding your body type, and choosing cuts that complement and flatter your figure properly.

2. Learn how important it is to wear sharp, not flashy outfits – Keeping an eye on the classics is the simplest way to approach the topic of looking sharp. A classic is a classic for a reason; they are tried-and-true necessities that never go out of style. Over time, they remain stable, in contrast to trends.
3. Learn how to layer – Layering adds a touch of personality to any wardrobe, making a straightforward outfit more fascinating. Layering is simple style advice for guys who want to add interest to their outfit without having to think too hard about a combination.

4. Accessorise adequately – Choosing the proper accessories entails integrating minor elements that bring your smart appearance to life. They are the final touches that may add character to your look and make it uniquely yours. Master the art of less is more by focusing on modest accessories like a watch, sunglasses, neck chain, socks, belts, tie bar, pocket squares, and so on.
What are the colours men can pick in semi-casual/casual for summer dressing?
Colours and patterns are everything in the summer. Using the “lighter and Brighter” method, you can rapidly “summarise” your outfits even if you don’t frequently wear a lot of colours. Choose a lighter hue of a core neutral, such as cool blue, olive, moss green, melon orange, camel brown, or grey and this minor shift will serve as your summer foundation colours. Then, if desired, add additional brighter or pastel colour and patterns over top! And if you love experimenting, then you can definitely opt for Indian hand block prints.

Which fabrics are apt for summers?
Summer weight textiles will be lighter in weight, with looser weaves that enable heat to escape and keep you cool. While there are probably hundreds of different sorts of textiles, mixes, and weaves, I’d like to make it as simple as possible for you. Here are some of the most prevalent summer fabrics to opt for.

a. Cotton – The supreme fabric for summer. Cotton is very adaptable and breathable. Compared to materials with a looser weave, like linen, it wrinkles less because of the tighter weave.
b. Linen – The queen of all fabric just as cotton is the king. Linen fabrics have a more open weave, allowing more heat to escape and air to pass through. This breathability is the lifesaver in hot, humid months.
c. Rayon – It is another great fabric that is always comfy in the hot summer. It is a synthetic fabric created from wood pulp, cellulose, cotton, and other natural materials.

d. Silk – This is a great summer fabric. It has sufficient antibacterial abilities and a naturally ventilating protein structure. Silk is frequently regarded as a climate fabric due to its capacity to control temperature.
e. Denim/Chambray – Denim is made from very tightly woven cotton, nowadays medium to heavier fabrics are available. Some people prefer chambray for summer clothing. Chambray is often described as imitation denim, so it has all of the same benefits as denim, but is a lot lighter in weight.
Shorts with t-shirts are most common when it comes to men styling. Any more pairing combinations they can look at?
Men’s shorts and t-shirts are unquestionably the most popular summer-time casual outfit. In addition to this, there are more trendy yet comfortable style options. These are:

When it comes to footwear, what is that men can choose to wear in summers?
When it comes to putting together a modest summer outfit, I believe you can get away with only three pairs of shoes. My choices are:
Minimal white trainers – These are a terrific adaptable alternative now that workplaces are increasingly business casual.
Brown suede loafer – A reliable business shoe that can be dressed down for a weekend date night. In the summer, unlined variants are available, allowing for an ultra-comfortable, breathable shoe.
Espadrilles are my preferred “Mandal” alternative. The traditional canvas Spanish slip-on with a characteristic rope sole is ideal for poolside relaxing.
Moreover, colours such as black, navy blue, and tan are the most adaptable. Choose a lighter grey (sand) or even white to lighten up your look. Olive or light blue are my go-to colours for a pop of colour. Apart from these 3 footwear options, you can also try leather sandals or kolhapuri style chappals for the perfect contemporary look.
