‘MBA provides a more holistic approach to career development’
Apeejay Panchsheel Park alumna Anjali Sahu, who is pursuing her MBA education, says being an Apeejayite gave her the self-belief to achieve anything in life
Apeejay Panchsheel Park alumnus, Anjali Sahu is living her dream. She is currently pursuing her Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the Indian School of Business (ISB), Mohali. In an impromptu chat, the budding business strategy expert discusses how doing an MBA was the ideal choice for her to widen the horizons of mind. She also advises learners to not put undue pressure on themselves for life has in its flow. Edited excerpts:
What was the inspiration to pursue a Master in Business Administration?
I started preparing for MBA while I was in my undergraduate. Well, the aspiration of wanting to do an MBA hit me back in the school days. ISB was my dream business school. I never thought that I would get a chance here, so it’s a dream come true for me. I wanted to pursue a business degree after working for some time. Actually, I wanted to have a holistic perspective towards my career and I knew that an MBA would give me that. Plus the exposure of different people coming from different backgrounds, would widen my horizons.
What are some of your best memories from your school days?
It’s been a long while now (laughs). The time I held the lead position in the Interact Club in the school is a precious memory to me. The school had a brilliant Interact Club, I would say it was the best in the city and even in the nation. I got the chance to lead the Interact Club in class 11 and at the same time, I was also the student-editor of the school magazine.
What advice would you like to give to a current Apeejay Panchsheel Park student?
I would like to say what I would perhaps tell to my younger self as well now: Don’t be so hard on yourself. Do not take too much pressure because no matter how much you think you can plan your lives out and research about it, life may turn out to be different. If it does, it doesn’t mean it would be bad but, it would certainly be transformative either way.
What are your future targets?
I am hoping the MBA would give me a bit more of an insight into my future plans. A good placement is on my mind and the desire to get into strategy and marketing fields.
How did Apeejay Panchsheel Park help you to be who you are today?
Being an Apeejayite, I felt if I worked hard; I could achieve whatever I set my mind to. That shaped me to become the person I am today.
