State education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said that schools might be shut again if Omicron cases rise in the state. “If Omicron cases continue to rise, we may take a call to shut the schools again. We are monitoring the situation,” Gaikwad said. The worrying rise of Omicron cases, both in India and countries abroad, could impact return-to-school plans. India’s Omicron tally crossed the 300-mark on Thursday and stood at 341. Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected state with a total of 88 cases, followed by Delhi (64 cases) and Telangana (38).
