Recently, Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, hosted a Hindi Kavita Vaachan Pratiyogita for its kindergarten students. Children from nursery, LKG, and UKG took part in the event, filling the room with their energy, innocence, and charm. Parents and teachers watched with pride as the tiny tots confidently took to the stage, each performance reflecting preparation, effort, and joy. The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with applause, encouragement, and the cheerful voices of children celebrating the beauty of their mother tongue.

The competition was designed not only as a platform for performance but also as a way to nurture a love for the Hindi language. By reciting poems with clear expressions and confident voices, the young learners took their first steps toward public speaking.

For many, it was their earliest experience of performing before an audience, helping them build self-belief in a supportive environment. More importantly, it showed them that learning can happen beyond books.

Building skills beyond the classroom

Poetry recitation goes beyond memorisation. It encourages children to appreciate rhythm, emotion, and language. It also helps them improve articulation and listening skills. Such activities strengthen both their communication and confidence. At the same time, it deepens their connection with Hindi literature, planting seeds of curiosity and respect for language at an early age.

The presence and encouragement of the Principal and Vice-principal added to the enthusiasm. Their constant guidance, coupled with the teachers’ efforts, turned the event into a memorable experience. Each child received appreciation for their participation, reinforcing the belief that every effort counts.

A blend of fun and growth

The event was more than a competition; it was a joyful learning opportunity. Children discovered that learning can be playful, expressive, and fun. With laughter and applause echoing across the hall, the Hindi Kavita Vaachan Pratiyogita became a reminder that confidence is best built early, and language can be celebrated through creativity. Above all, it was an example of how knowledge, when combined with joy, becomes a lifelong treasure.
