Recently, the youngest learners of Apeejay School, Tanda Road, Jalandhar, went on an educational excursion. It was a memorable trip for Nursery, LKG, and UKG children to the magnificent Akshardham Temple. This was essentially done so that students could know more about cultural and spiritual values. Students got an opportunity to learn more about this marvellous piece of architecture.
The Akshardham Temple excursion was more oriented towards teaching the students about education and spiritualism. Entering the Akshardham Temple complex, the children were warmly welcomed, and they went into raptures over the sprawling complex of the temple with magnificent architecture. The finely carved pillars and beautiful domes spoke a lot about India’s glorious traditions. The teachers made the children walk through the temple, explaining to them the history behind it and other information in very simple and interesting terms.
Participating in the Jal Abhishek
This was one of the real highlights of the trip. It is a holy ritual that allows these young students to pour water over the idol, signifying thereby purification and devotion. This helped the children bond with the spiritual essence of the temple and fostered a sense of calm and reverence. Through such experiences, students learned about rites and traditions intrinsic to Indian culture.
The trip was duly planned not only for a religious visit but also to teach the students various important life values. The teachers briefed them about showing respect for all religions and understanding diversity, which is the prime factor that enriches our world. The children learnt a good lesson in inclusivity, respect for different beliefs, and harmony in coexistence right from childhood.
They returned from the trip with a sense of fulfilment and cheer. In their minds, this visit is linked with Akshardham Temple for its educative and spiritual growth. The children declared it an excellent educational excursion for the school management and the teachers.
Reflections and Feedback
The parents and guardians were very elated with the initiation of such a wonderful trip. They highly appreciated the initiative by the school in merging education with cultural experiences as part of the all-round development of their children. Furthermore, the visit initiated some excellent discussions at home about respect, inclusivity, and spirituality, further building on what was learned.
The trip became an example of how Apeejay School emphasises a well-rounded education. This school has always worked on the concept of merging knowledge from books with real-life experiences so that young minds become responsible and sensitive human beings. This visit contributed slightly yet significantly in shaping the understanding of the pupil’s mind about the world and their place in it.
