Embracing Love and Grace: Literary Saga 2024

In line with its ethos, Apeejay School, Pitampura recently organised “Literary Saga 2024” event. Themed on ‘Blessed by Love and Grace’, the event highlighted that it’s love and grace that nurtures a child’s latent potential, transforming them into artists. The event kicked-off with a heartfelt prayer and a soul-stirring dance performance on Vande Mataram, setting the tone for an enriching literary experience.

#OpinionsMatter: Exploring Turmoils Through Expression of Views

For students of classes 11 and 12, the ‘#OpinionsMatter’ competition provided a platform to express their views on a range of topics, from the relevance of data in today’s world to the accountability of social media companies for hate speech to man’s ceaseless craving for more. 

The debates sparked crucial discussions on online privacy, responsible data and social media platform usage, the ethical responsibilities of social media platforms and contentment being the root of a fulfilled life. Students eloquently argued for individual empowerment through data and the need for social media accountability in curbing hate speech.

Verse and Mime: Bringing Poetry to Life

In the ‘Verse and Mime’ event, teams from classes 8 and 9 presented poems by literary giants like Robert Frost, Maya Angelou, and Emily Dickinson through recitation and mime. The performances were a visual delight, with students skillfully using mime to complement the rhythmic recitation of the poems. 

Maya Angelou’s powerful works, such as And Still I Rise and Caged Bird, resonated deeply with most students. It was a treat to watch students powerfully the poem via beautifully props such as cages, wings and beak to depict the themes of resilience and freedom.

Musical Interlude: A Symphony of Talent

To lighten the mood and re-energise the participants, a musical performance by the school band was organised, which totally enthralled the audience. The students’ versatility shone as they effortlessly switched between English and Hindi songs, accompanied by an array of instruments from drums to two types of guitars to casio and more. 

The synergy between the performers and the audience created an atmosphere of pure artistic joy, filling the auditorium with energy and innovation. In a hallmark of artistic success, the students and teachers in the audience began clapping to the rhythm of the songs creating a mesmerising aura in the school auditorium.  

News Slip: Where Laughter Meets News

This was followed by the final event of the day, ‘News Slip’, which saw students of classes 10 and 11 hilariously enact news reading errors, bringing laughter and entertainment to the audience.

 With witty scripts, intelligent jokes, and professional setups consisting of news channel logos, corporate attire and power-point presentations, the performances mimicked live news shows, covering a range of topics from international floods to fashion trends, weather forecasts and even the IPL cricket matches. The students’ creativity and comedic timing made for a memorable and entertaining spectacle.

 It was quite hard for the judges to chart the results however, Mrs Rakhee Auluck
Mrs Jasleen Harmeek, Ms Nikita Jain and Ms Vandana Tandon, all educationists with years of professional experience, diligently selected the winners for the day. Apeejay School, Faridabad won the first prize in the ‘Verse and Mime’ contest while Ahlcon Public School grabbed the winner’s trophy in the ‘News Slip’ event. Apeejay School, Pitampura were adjudged as the overall winners of the competition. 

Speaking about the success of the literary saga, Mrs Veena Goel, Principal, expressed, “Literary Saga 2024 showed us the transformative power of words and the boundless creativity of our students. The remarkable performances not only illuminated the stage but also ignited a passion for language and literature within all students.” She added, “We are immensely proud of the achievements of our students. Children, keep soaring high to inspire and enlighten others through your words. I wish you all the very best in every endeavour!”

Truly, Literary Saga 2024 at Apeejay School, Pitampura was a celebration of creativity, talent, and the transformative power of literature. Through engaging competitions and spirited performances, the event showcased the school’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals equipped to navigate the complexities of the world with love, grace, and literary prowess.
