Light Pollution: The Unseen Danger Above Us

Published

on

Light pollution is the inappropriate or excessive use of artificial light at night.

It disrupts wildlife like migratory birds and sea turtles, affecting their navigation and behaviour. Moreso, it harms human health by interfering with sleep patterns and potentially impacting circadian rhythms and melatonin production.

It obscures the view of the night sky, making stars and celestial objects less visible.

Solutions include using shielded lights directed downward, turning off unnecessary lights, and choosing warmer-coloured bulbs.

Raising awareness and adopting responsible lighting practices can help restore the natural balance of our environment.
