Three high-performing students from Apeejay School, Noida, share the study strategies, guidance, and mindset that helped them achieve academic excellence. Their stories highlight the importance of consistent effort, teacher support, and smart revision techniques. Meet Arnab Mukherjee, Anika Sharma, and Ameyaa Bajaj of Class VII-E (academic year 2024-25), who made their school and parents proud.
Arnab, who scored 97.2%, said, “I followed a structured study plan where I focused on a different subject each day to ensure I covered all topics. Before any specific test, I would dedicate one to two days to that subject for thorough revision and clarity.”
Hindi was a bit challenging for him, he shared. So he began revising two weeks in advance before the exam to clear doubts and strengthen my understanding. “My teachers were always supportive and provided clear guidance whenever I needed help. Like others, I found that consistent revision, focus in class, and timely doubt-solving made a big difference,” he stated.
Anika, who secured an impressive 96.6% (excluding her third language), credits her outstanding academic performance to the unwavering support of her teachers and parents. “My teachers were instrumental in clearing my concepts, while my parents constantly motivated me,” she shares.
She adopted a disciplined and structured approach to her studies. She regularly practised with printed past question papers and sample papers, which boosted her confidence and enhanced her preparedness. Along with that, she frequently revised previously studied topics and diligently completed worksheets provided by her teachers to familiarise herself with potential exam questions.
“I maintained a consistent routine, studying one or two subjects daily for about 30 minutes to an hour. On certain days, I focused on two to three subjects, depending on priority,” she adds. Acknowledging the stress during exam time, Anika ensured she took short breaks to avoid burnout. This strategy helped her stay focused and calm and perform at her best.
Ameyaa, who scored 95.4%, shared that she was thrilled with this result, as she had not done so well in Class VI. “The difference this year was that I started studying much earlier before the exams. I paid close attention in class and made use of the school’s new initiative of practice tests, which helped me revise regularly and reduced last-minute stress. These class notes and regular assessments truly made a big impact on my preparation,” she shared.
Another thing that helped her was the guidance from the teachers. They encouraged her to write answers in her words to better understand the concepts, rather than simply memorising them.
“For example, in German, I struggled with the last chapter. I asked the teacher to explain it again, and she did so brilliantly. It’s very important to clear doubts as soon as they arise. My parents also supported me; they always reminded me to stay focused in class and to revise every topic right after it was introduced,” she said.
