Let’s explore my favourite festival!

I love celebrating festivals, and Christmas is my favourite. It is a time of sharing love and celebrations. It is a very old tradition of writing letters to Santa Claus. Kids across the world write to Santa asking for a gift. On the morning of 25th Dec, the kids find that gift lying next to their pillows. Since I was in Class Nursery (2021), I had been writing to Santa Claus. My first gift was a ladybug-shaped toothbrush stand. Then I asked for a unicorn slipper, a talking doll, and a dollhouse. But this year I have asked for something else and wrote a letter below:

Dear Santa,

How are you? You must be busy buying gifts for all the kids. How cool!

Please buy a mask for yourself. When you come to give gifts to the kids in Delhi, you will fall sick without an N95 face mask. We all wear it today when we step out. Without a mask, we cough and can not breathe.

This is why I don’t want a gift for myself this year. But I want something useful for everyone. Yes, my Dear Santa, I want you to take away pollution from Delhi and any other country troubled by it. Pollution is affecting all the kids, young people, and old people. I see my mom down with asthma, and my little brother coughing the whole night. Every year, because of Pollution, our schools get closed, we are not able to meet our friends, our teachers, or school didis. We miss playing on the swings. This year, we are unable to celebrate Christmas at school.

Santa, you know I’m a good girl. This year, I promise to be a better girl and plant more seeds. I will not burn crackers during festivals. It’s ok if you don’t get me a gift this year. I will not cry seeing no gift on my bed. But Santa, please give our mother Earth healthy and clean air.
