The school invites Gurchet Singh Thind, an alumnus studying at IIT Guwahati, who motivates the students into consistent academic effort

It is time! Not simply because one cannot buy time but most importantly due to its transformative ability. Due to the power of being unnoticeable, one hardly realizes when a little seed became a beautiful big tree. Within the embryo of time lies the message of tiny regular investments reaping a large result.
This message is important for people across all walks of life but perhaps it is the most crucial for students. After all, such is the power of regularity and discipline, and Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg has been regular and disciplined throughout in sharing this message with its students.
Recently, however, the school found a great way to put this message across by inviting an achiever alumnus who had effectively practiced the same. Hosting an enlightening and interactive session with Class 11 and 12 students, the school invited Gurchet Singh Thind, a distinguished alumnus, who recently secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 4796 in the JEE Advanced exam and is now a student at IIT Guwahati pursuing chemical engineering.
During the session, Gurchet shared invaluable insights with the students, focusing on effective study techniques, the importance of a well-structured routine, and the power of consistent habits in achieving personal goals. He emphasised the need for discipline, perseverance, and a positive mindset in overcoming academic challenges.
The achiever mentioned, “Coming to school daily and learning in the classes creates discipline and regularity in a student’s life on its own. The teachers initiate our interest in the subject and give key lessons unavailable anywhere else.” Gurchet added, “And when it comes to managing the study time, I would suggest one to never count the study hours; instead, pursue a topic and seek to understand it no matter how much time it takes. Take frequent short interval breaks and don’t study in a stretch. I also give another tip from my journey, where consistency became my strength: I devoted two years completely towards my goal, and it rewarded me immensely.”
Gurchet also addressed various doubts and queries from the students. Topics ranged from managing stress during exam preparations to balancing extracurricular activities with academic commitments. His practical advice and personal experiences resonated deeply with the audience, providing them with a realistic perspective on the journey towards achieving their academic aspirations.
He further expressed heartfelt gratitude to the school’s Principal, Ms. Sangeeta Nistandra, and the teachers for their unwavering support and efforts towards fostering a conducive learning environment that significantly contributed to his success.
