The inaugural meeting of the Australia India Education and Skill Council (AIESC) is set to take place today (November 6, 2023) at IIT Gandhinagar in Gujarat. Established in 2011, the AIESC, formerly known as the Australian India Education Council (AIEC), is a bilateral body aimed at steering the strategic direction of educational, training, and research partnerships between the two nations.
In a bid to align with the respective national priorities, the scope of this forum has been broadened to emphasise the promotion of internationalisation, bilateral mobility, and collaboration in the fields of education and skills development.
This marks the first occasion where education and skill development will be addressed within the same institutional framework. The meeting will be jointly chaired by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Australian Education Minister Jason Clare, and Brendan O’Connor, Minister for Skills and Training in the Australian Government.
The gathering will serve as a platform for academic and skill experts to engage in discussions on a wide range of mutually agreed upon priorities, with the ultimate goal of shaping the future landscape of education and skill development in both nations.
