Key AI highlights at Paris AI Summit 2025

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Paris AI Summit 2025, co-chaired with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Grand Palais. The Summit focused on leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) for innovation, ethical governance, and global collaboration. Other key attendees included EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

In his address, the PM underscored AI’s transformative potential in reshaping economies, security, and society. He described AI as “the code for humanity” and stressed the urgency of global governance to ensure fairness, transparency, and safety. He advocated for international AI regulations, emphasising equitable access, particularly for the Global South.

  • Cybersecurity and Deepfakes: Warned about AI-driven cybersecurity threats and misinformation, calling for stringent safeguards against deepfakes and disinformation.
  • AI Sustainability: Highlighted AI’s energy demands and the need for sustainable solutions.

India’s vision for ethical AI governance

India is taking a leadership role in shaping global AI policies, advocating for ethical and inclusive AI governance. Under the IndiaAI Mission, the country has launched initiatives to promote indigenous AI frameworks, regulatory tools, and responsible AI development.

India’s governance approach prioritises ethical alignmentmulti-stakeholder engagement, and risk assessment mechanisms like AI RAM to strengthen institutional capacity. The government has also established a Subcommittee on AI Governance and Guidelines, focusing on compliance, accountability, and safety in AI applications.

With a vision of “AI for All,” India is actively developing a policy roadmap through public consultations, ensuring inclusivity, innovation, and trust in AI technologies. The PM’s address at the Paris AI Summit reaffirmed India’s commitment to global AI collaboration and responsible governance.
