Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, Model Town, Jalandhar, recently celebrated Krishna Janmashtami, the festival marking Lord Krishna’s birth, with enthusiasm and cultural fervour. The event saw young students, along with their parents, grandparents, and teachers, come together in traditional attire to participate in a variety of cultural activities. The aim was to foster cultural awareness and instil values in young learners through the celebration of this significant Indian festival.

The school’s auditorium was beautifully decorated with vibrant themes depicting the life and times of Lord Krishna, creating an immersive experience for everyone present. The highlight of the celebration was the mesmerising dance performances by children from LKG and UKG, who danced gracefully to popular Krishna bhajans, capturing the essence of the festival.

In addition, children from Pre-Nursery to Grade 2 showcased their talents by performing solos and duets with their grandparents on various songs and bhajans, leaving the audience spellbound with their rhythmic movements and colourful costumes. The performances reflected the deep-rooted traditions of Janamashtami, bringing the stories of Krishna to life through song and dance.

One of the most anticipated moments of the event was the “Dahi Handi” ceremony, where students enthusiastically participated in breaking the traditional pot, symbolising the playful spirit of young Krishna. This activity, combined with the cultural performances, provided a fun and educational experience for the children, helping them understand the significance of Janmashtami in a hands-on manner.

The celebrations concluded with a feast of traditional sweets and snacks, allowing the children and their families to savour the flavours associated with the festival. The event was not only a celebration of Janmashtami but also an opportunity for the students to connect with their cultural heritage and learn about Indian traditions in an engaging environment.

Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman of Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University, and Chairman of Apeejay Education, believes in fostering cultural awareness and instilling values from a young age. She views Janmashtami celebrations as a wonderful platform for young learners to embrace Indian culture and traditions.

The event was graced by the presence of Ms. Priyanka Grover, Officiating Principal of Apeejay School Model Town, along with Headmistresses Ms. Nidhi Ghai and Ms. Namrata Sharma, who, together with the teachers, played an integral role in organising the celebrations and ensuring their success.

Overall, the Janmashtami celebration at Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld was a joyful and meaningful event, bringing together students, families, and educators to celebrate and preserve the rich cultural heritage of India.
