Journey of Coconut Water!

Every child like me must have thought about how someone climbed up the coconut tree and poured water inside the hanging coconuts.

Have you ever looked at the coconut tree and wondered how tall it is, and how the water goes all the way up into the coconut? I wondered the same thing.

So one day, I watched some animated videos of it, and then I came to know that under the ground, the tree has many roots and they pull up the water from the soil. This process is called osmosis. Inside the trunk of the coconut tree, there are tiny tubes that act like straws. These tubes carry water up to the top of the tree.

First, the water reaches the leaves. The leaves use some of the water to make food for the tree, and the extra water goes to make the flowers. Those flowers become coconuts. The water that reaches the inside of the coconut forms a liquid called endosperm. Over a period of time, some part of the endosperm forms a creamy layer inside the coconut, and the liquid remaining is called coconut water. So that’s how nature gives us the water in its purest form. And the coconut water is naturally sterile and full of nutrients. So that is the cool journey of water all the way up to the coconut. Next time you drink the coconut water, remember the water’s long trip.
