JEE Main Session 1 Topper: An inspiring success tale of hard work and determination

Scoring an impressive 98.2 percentile in the JEE Mains Session 1 exam is no small feat. Siddharth Rastogi, a student of Apeejay International School, Greater Noida, has achieved this milestone through determination, perseverance, and the right guidance. Reflecting on his journey, Siddharth expresses his joy at improving his score from last year’s 97 percentile. “As a dropper, I was determined to refine my approach and enhance my performance.”

Last year, Siddharth relied solely on self-study, which he realised had its limitations. Determined to improve, he sought guidance from his teachers, actively engaging in
doubt-solving sessions. “Their insights on exam strategies and conceptual clarity helped me strengthen my weaker areas,” he shares. He also designed a study schedule that balanced structure with flexibility. Although he maintained a disciplined routine by waking up at 5 am every day, he chose to study based on what needed the most attention rather than following a rigid timetable.

One of the biggest challenges Siddharth faced was Chemistry, which he initially struggled with. However, he overcame this by rigorous question practice, a method that gradually built his confidence. “I knew Chemistry was my weak point, so I made sure to practice as many questions as possible,” he says. His teachers played a crucial role in simplifying complex topics and ensuring that his doubts were resolved promptly. “Their guidance, coupled with my persistent efforts, enabled me to grasp difficult concepts more effectively.”

Throughout his journey, Siddharth found unwavering support from his parents, who motivated him without adding pressure. “They always encouraged me to do my best without making me feel stressed,” he notes. His teachers provided constant encouragement, equipping him with the right strategies to tackle the exam efficiently. His friends also played an essential role, keeping his morale high and pushing him to strive for excellence. “My friends were my biggest cheerleaders—they always motivated me to aim higher,” he adds.

With his current score, Siddharth is now focused on improving further in JEE Mains Session 2. He is also aiming to excel in JEE Advanced, with aspirations of securing a seat in a prestigious IIT. “If not, I already have a strong chance of getting into a top NIT, preferably in a circuital branch like Electronics or Computer Science,” he says confidently.
