The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is a critical stepping stone for aspiring engineers across India, testing both conceptual clarity and problem-solving skills. Recognised for its rigorous standards, it challenges students to demonstrate proficiency in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics while managing time and stress effectively. Success in this preliminary stage not only secures eligibility for the JEE Advanced but also builds confidence and strategic thinking essential for competitive exams.
The JEE Main Session 1 exam thus served as both a benchmark and a launchpad for Priyansh, Ayush Dasgupta, Sarthak Prasad, Ayushmaan Gupta, Ayush Ranjan and Shoerya Sarraf, who scored 99.50 percentile, 99 percentile, 98:66 percentile, 98.65 Percentile, 98.44 Percentile and 98.4 Percentile respectively, and earning accolades for Apeejay School, Saket.
Speaking about his preparation strategy, Priyansh, shared some valuable insights. “My preparation strategy was structured and systematic. I prioritised conceptual clarity during classroom teaching to ensure a strong foundation in all subjects. I made concise notes of important topics, which allowed for faster and more effective revision. I also solved a maximum number of numerical problems from the last 10 years of JEE Mains to gain familiarity with different question patterns and improve problem-solving speed. During the final revision, I focused on high-scoring topics to maximize marks in the actual examination. This balanced approach of understanding, practice, and strategic revision proved highly effective.”
Ayushman, though expressed that he isn’t very satisfied with this JEE Mains result as he was aiming for a much higher and did have the engine for that. “The core subjects’ Physics Chemistry and Math were done with in detail and were not much of a bother to attend to in school although certain formats were mandated to be learnt. However on the other hand for English and Computers I did have to allocate time differently from others and paying attention in class also is required.
Meanwhile Shoerya shared, “I managed boards along with JEE by aligning my preparation. I focused on NCERT which helped me improve my fundamentals which helped in both exams along with my JEE preparation I practiced answer writing and theory for Boards. Closer to the examination I increased board specific revision and solved past papers.”
Sharing further a few tips on how to balance Board exam along with JEE, Priyansh expressed, “I began my JEE preparation at the start of Class XI, primarily dedicating weekends to focused study. Since the JEE syllabus largely overlaps with the Board syllabus, Apeejay’s classroom teaching provided me with strong conceptual clarity in all subjects. I also utilized my school holidays to practice previous years’ JEE questions, strengthening problem-solving skills and exam familiarity. Throughout this period, the active guidance and encouragement from all my subject teachers kept me motivated and focused, ensuring a consistent and structured preparation strategy that balanced both Board and JEE requirements effectively.”
Lastly, Shoerya added, “My preparation strategy emphasized consistency, conceptual clarity, and regular revision. I set daily, achievable targets and prioritized understanding concepts over rote memorization. Regular practice sessions and mock tests allowed me to continuously evaluate my performance, improve my scores, and identify weak areas. Maintaining a balanced routine was equally important to stay focused and avoid burnout throughout the preparation period.”
