The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to commence the registration process for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 Session 1 by October 31, 2025. Once the registration window opens, candidates aspiring for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes across the country can apply through the official websites — jeemain.nta.nic.in and nta.ac.in.
Earlier this month, NTA announced the exam schedule for both JEE Main sessions. According to the official notice, Session 1 will be held from January 21 to 30, 2026, while Session 2 is slated for April 1 to 10, 2026. The exam will be conducted in multiple shifts across various centres in India and abroad.
Last year, the JEE Main 2025 exams followed a similar timeline. The first session held between January 22 and 30 and the second session between April 2 and 8. Registration for the 2025 exam began on January 2, followed by the release of the city intimation slip and admit cards.
The JEE Main exam serves as a gateway for admission to premier engineering institutes, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) (through JEE Advanced), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other centrally funded technical institutions.
Candidates are advised to keep their Aadhaar card, category certificates, and other essential documents ready before the registration process begins. For any queries or assistance, aspirants can reach out to NTA via the official websites or the helpdesk numbers provided therein.
With the exam dates confirmed, candidates are encouraged to stay alert for the official notification and begin preparations early to ensure a smooth application process.
