The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) has announced the schedule for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026, one of India’s most competitive engineering entrance exams. The exam will be conducted on May 17, 2026, in computer-based test (CBT) mode across designated centres in the country.
According to the official announcement, the registration process will begin on April 6, 2026, for foreign national candidates. Indian candidates will be able to register from April 23, 2026. The last date to submit the application form is May 2, 2026. Interested candidates can apply through the official website, jeeadv.ac.in.
Admit cards for the exam will be available for download from May 11 to May 17, 2026. Candidates must carry the admit card to the exam centre on the day of the test.
JEE Advanced 2026 will be conducted in two sessions on the same day. Paper 1 will take place from 9 am to 12 pm, while Paper 2 will be held from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Both papers are mandatory for candidates appearing in the exam.
To be eligible for JEE Advanced, candidates must first qualify for the JEE Main 2026 examination. Only those who rank among the top 2.5 lakh candidates in JEE Main Paper 1 (BE/BTech) will be eligible to register for the exam, regardless of category.
Candidates can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in two consecutive years. Applicants must have appeared for their Class 12 or equivalent exam for the first time in either 2025 or 2026, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
Candidates who have previously secured admission to any IIT are not eligible to appear for the exam again. The JEE Advanced question paper will be available in both English and Hindi to ensure accessibility for students across the country.
