Jalandhar Institute hosts inspiring faculty development programme on sustainability

Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar successfully conducted a thought-provoking Faculty Development Program (FDP) on the theme “Business Cannot Succeed on a Failing Planet.” The session featured Dr. Sukhbir Sandhu, an eminent Associate Professor at the University of South Australia and Director of the Centre of Workplace Excellence (CWeX), as the resource person.

The FDP commenced with a warm floral welcome for Dr. Sandhu by Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director, AIMETC . In his introductory remarks, Dr. Bagga highlighted the remarkable journey of Dr. Sandhu, sharing that she began her illustrious career at Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering. He lauded her for emerging as a global thought leader in sustainability and governance, making significant contributions to academia, policy-making, and society at large.

The FDP emphasized the critical need for sustainable practices in business and society. Dr. Sandhu shared her vast expertise on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) challenges and how businesses can adopt sustainable strategies to drive positive environmental and societal impact.

Dr. Sandhu highlighted the role of individuals, organizations, and communities in fostering a sustainable future. Drawing from her extensive research, she provided actionable insights on embedding sustainability into organizational practices and stressed the interconnectedness of economic success and environmental stewardship.

With a distinguished career that includes over 60 high-impact research outputs and global recognition for her contributions to sustainability, Dr. Sandhu’s insights were a source of inspiration. Her work has not only influenced academia but also shaped real-world policies, including legislation in South Australia and initiatives by the United Nations.

The session sparked engaging discussions on topics such as the transition to green business models, the role of academia in promoting sustainable practices, and the power of collective action in combating climate challenges.
