Academic achievers and best performers in extracurricular activities at Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, were felicitated by the college at the 48th Annual Prize Distribution ceremony. Dr Karanjeet Singh Kahlon, Registrar, Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), was the chief guest on the occasion while Mr Nirmal Mahajan, Member, Board of Governors, was the special guest.

The event began with a ceremonial lighting of the lamp alongside a melodious rendition of ‘Saraswati Vandana’. Dr Neerja Dhingra, principal, ACFA, formally welcomed the guests. She highlighted how the eminent personalities inspire and motivate young students to work hard and aim for success.

She expressed her gratitude to Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, President of Apeejay Education, and said, “It is under her able guidance, innovative thinking, and farsightedness that the college is touching such heights and attaining excellence day by day not just in the academics but in the cultural activities as well.” She congratulated all the student achievers for making their college and parents proud.

Dr Karanjeet Singh Kahlon said, “ACFA is an ocean of talent and GNDU also feels proud of it for it does not bombard students with just facts but gives them ample space, exposure, freedom and environment to be creative and innovative.” Wherever Apeejayites go, they leave a mark, he added.

Dr Dhingra went on to share the proud achievements of the college with the respected guests and said, “ACFA is making its distinct identity at the national level in every field, be it education, research or youth festival.” Also, in the surveys conducted by the national magazines, ACFA has ranked top in the field of Arts, Design and Commerce.

At the ceremony, 189 students were awarded for securing top positions in the GNDU exams and in ACFA in the session 2021-2022. Besides, 60 students were rewarded for their mesmersing and award-winning performances during Youth Festival while 31 students were rewarded for their outstanding performance and expertise in their respective fields.

To make the event a grand success, ACFA student Riddhima presented a scintillating Indian classical dance performance that was appreciated with a thunderous round of applause. Kritika Sharma, Harsifat Kaur, Jasleen Kaur, Nargis, Deepali and Bhavini sang a western group song which also got them the first prize at GNDU’s recently held Youth Festival at the national level.

Another set of students  —   Ridhima, Hitin, Pallak, Mrinal, Vanshika, Nishta, Jaspinder and Navpreet — performed a group dance expressing the pure spirit and essence of spirituality.
