Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, recently organised a significant tree plantation drive as part of the “One Cadet, One Plant” initiative with its NCC Wing. The college, known for its commitment to the holistic development of students, has consistently encouraged participation in academic, cultural, and sports activities. This event, however, focused on raising awareness about environmental conservation, further showcasing the institution’s dedication to instilling social responsibility among its students.
Under the aegis of the 2 Punjab NCC Battalion, the college’s NCC Unit spearheaded the tree plantation drive with the enthusiastic participation of students. The initiative aimed not only to contribute to the environment but also to cultivate a sense of responsibility towards nature among the youth. The students took part with great zeal, understanding the significance of their contribution to a greener future.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra played a pivotal role in the event, emphasising the urgency of environmental conservation. In her address, she congratulated Colonel Vinod Joshi, Commanding Officer of the 2 Punjab NCC Battalion, for inspiring students to engage in this vital initiative. Dr. Dhingra highlighted that the act of planting trees is more crucial today than ever before. She pointed out that if we fail to act on environmental issues now, the challenges in the future will be far more difficult to address.
The principal also took the opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of Dr. Neeraj Katyal and Ms. Komal, who were instrumental in organising the event. She praised their dedication to fostering a sense of social responsibility among the NCC cadets and encouraged them to continue their efforts in promoting environmental awareness.

The tree plantation drive at Apeejay College of Fine Arts was more than just an event; it was a statement of the college’s commitment to sustainability and the well-being of future generations. By involving the NCC cadets in such initiatives, the college not only contributes to the environment but also empowers its students to become conscientious citizens. This drive is a testament to the college’s belief in the power of collective action and its ongoing mission to create a better world, one plant at a time.
