On the momentous occasion of India’s 78th Independence Day, Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) in Jalandhar, held a vibrant and patriotic celebration, reflecting its enduring commitment to instilling a sense of national pride and social responsibility among its students. The event was marked by the hoisting of the tricolour flag by Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra, accompanied by faculty members and enthusiastic students. The air was filled with the patriotic fervour of loud chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Bharat,” echoing the deep respect and love for the country.

The college’s National Service Scheme wing played a pivotal role in the celebration, mesmerising everyone with stirring renditions of patriotic songs that captured the essence of India’s journey to freedom and the sacrifices made by countless martyrs. The musical tribute not only evoked strong emotions but also served as a poignant reminder of the struggles endured to achieve the nation’s independence.
In her address to the students, Dr. Neerja Dhingra emphasised the profound significance of the day, reminding everyone that the freedom they enjoy today has been hard-earned through the ultimate sacrifices of the nation’s martyrs. She urged the students to honour this legacy by pledging to fulfill their duties with sincerity and to actively contribute to the progress and development of the nation.
Dr. Dhingra’s words resonated deeply, instilling a renewed sense of responsibility and dedication towards the country in the hearts of the young attendees.
Dr. Dhingra also took the opportunity to commend the efforts of Dr. Simkee Dev, Dean of the NSS wing, for successfully organising the Independence Day celebration. She praised Dr. Dev for her continuous dedication to sensitising students about their social responsibilities and encouraged her to keep fostering the spirit of nationalism and civic duty among the student body.
The event was not just a celebration of independence but also a platform to reinforce the values of unity, duty, and patriotism.
