Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, has always believed in instilling social responsibility and ethical awareness among its students. Continuing this tradition, the institution’s Anti-Ragging Cell observed Anti-Ragging Week with a series of impactful activities aimed at promoting a safe and respectful academic environment.

The week began with students of the Anti-Ragging Cell taking an oath, pledging never to indulge in ragging and to encourage their peers to stay away from such harmful practices. This symbolic act reinforced the importance of creating a campus atmosphere rooted in dignity, equality, and empathy.

A major highlight of the week was a street play staged by the students. With powerful performances, the play depicted the emotional trauma caused by ragging and conveyed a strong message on the urgent need to eliminate this malpractice. It not only resonated with the audience but also sensitized students about their responsibility in making the campus a haven of mutual respect.

In addition, the Anti-Ragging Cell organised a rally to raise awareness beyond the college premises, spreading the message of anti-ragging and social responsibility in the wider community. A poster-making competition was also conducted on three themes – Viksit BharatSwachh Bharat, and Anti-Ragging. Students participated enthusiastically, presenting creative and thought-provoking artworks.

The competition results were as follows:

  • Viksit Bharat: Palak (1st), Diya Talwar (2nd), Mannat (3rd)
  • Swachh Bharat: Akshat Sharma (1st), Megha Thakur (2nd), Natasha (3rd)
  • Anti-Ragging: Ashutosh (1st), Muskaan (2nd), Shivalika (3rd)

The vibrant activities reflected the passion and creativity of the students, who used art as a medium to spread awareness about national development, cleanliness, and the menace of ragging.

Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra applauded the students for their spirited participation and successful execution of Anti-Ragging Week. She extended her appreciation to the Anti-Ragging Cell in-charges – Dr. Seema Sharma, Dr. Monika Mogla, and Dr. Kewal Krishan Nailwal – whose dedication and guidance ensured the event’s success. Dr. Dhingra emphasised that such initiatives go beyond academic learning and play a pivotal role in cultivating empathy, integrity, and resilience in students. She noted that the true spirit of education lies not merely in intellectual achievement but also in nurturing moral strength and compassion to create a just and progressive society.

The week concluded on a note of unity and awareness, leaving a strong impact on students and reaffirming Apeejay’s commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and socially responsible campus environment.
