The Department of Psychology at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, recently hosted the Investiture Ceremony of the Psychology Forum and The Listening Room, a landmark event that formally entrusted deserving students with key responsibilities. The ceremony was a celebration of leadership, responsibility, and the spirit of service, offering students an opportunity to rise as role models within the academic community.
In her inspiring address to the gathering, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra highlighted the significance of the occasion, stating that the primary objective of the forum is to build students’ confidence and instill in them the courage to independently organise even the most prominent events. She emphasized that platforms such as the Psychology Forum not only nurture self-assurance and polish personalities but also develop the ability to make sound decisions in keeping with the demands of time. Encouraging the students, Dr. Dhingra remarked, “Your commitment will not only strengthen your mental resilience but also help you develop the vision to act with clarity and purpose in the right direction.”
The ceremony saw the formal announcement of office bearers for both the Psychology Forum and The Listening Room. In the Psychology Forum, Kritagya took charge as President, with Shobhana as Vice President. Sukhnjot was appointed General Secretary, Anureet as Administrative Head, and Tanveer as Executive Head. The creative domain was entrusted to Manya as Creative Head, supported by Niharika and Yashika as Deputy Creative Heads, and Jia Arora as Joint Creative Head. Vanshika and Bhoomika were named Event Coordinators, Avni was selected as Marketing Head, Navneet as Discipline Head, Shruti as Advertising Head, and Piyush as Treasurer.
In The Listening Room, which focuses on peer support and creating a safe, empathetic space for students, Tanveer was appointed Student Coordinator and Deeksha was named Support Buddy. These roles are expected to foster a culture of listening, empathy, and emotional resilience among students.
Congratulating the newly appointed office-bearers, Dr. Dhingra urged them to approach their responsibilities with sincerity, honesty, and a spirit of dedication. She further appreciated the hard work and efforts of Ms. Niharika and Ms. Harpreet Kaur, faculty members of the Department of Psychology, for meticulously organising the ceremony and mentoring the students throughout the process.
The ceremony not only marked the beginning of a new leadership chapter for the Psychology Forum and The Listening Room but also reflected the college’s unwavering commitment to nurturing holistic development, leadership, and a culture of empathy among its students.
