Is blockchain a game-changer in the manufacturing sector?

Dr. Vernika Agarwal, a distinguished academic and researcher at Apeejay School of Management (ASM), Dwarka, conducted an insightful session on “Blockchain Applications in Manufacturing” as part of the Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on the Application of Digital Technologies in Manufacturing Environment. Organised by NIT Tiruchirappalli and NIT Patna, in association with E&ICT Academy, NIT Patna, the FDP aimed to equip faculty members and industry professionals with cutting-edge knowledge in digital manufacturing technologies.

Dr. Agarwal’s session provided a comprehensive overview of blockchain technology’s transformative role in manufacturing, covering key areas such as supply chain transparency, smart contracts, traceability of raw materials, and cybersecurity in industrial operations. She elaborated on how blockchain enhances data integrity, reduces counterfeiting risks, and fosters collaboration among stakeholders in the manufacturing ecosystem.

Participants gained hands-on insights into real-world applications of blockchain in predictive maintenance, quality assurance, and decentralised manufacturing networks. The session also highlighted case studies of blockchain adoption in leading manufacturing firms, emphasising its role in achieving Industry 4.0 and beyond.

The session was highly interactive, with faculty members and researchers engaging in discussions on implementation challenges, scalability, and future research opportunities in blockchain-driven manufacturing. Dr. Agarwal’s expertise and engaging delivery were well appreciated by the attendees, making the session a significant highlight of the FDP.

This FDP successfully reinforced the importance of digital transformation in manufacturing, and Dr. Vernika Agarwal’s session added immense value by bridging theoretical knowledge with practical industry applications.

Sharing his thoughts, Dr. Sonu Rajak, FDP Coordinator, NIT Patna highlighted, “Dr. Vernika Agarwal’s session on blockchain applications in manufacturing was truly enlightening. Her deep expertise and practical insights helped participants understand the transformative potential of blockchain in industrial operations.”

Another FDP Coordinator from NIT Tiruchirappalli Dr. Vimal K E K mentioned, “The session provided a perfect blend of theoretical foundations and real-world applications. Dr. Agarwal’s ability to simplify complex blockchain concepts made it highly engaging and valuable for faculty and researchers alike.”

Lastly, a participant said, “Blockchain is the future of manufacturing, and this session brilliantly showcased its potential. Dr. Agarwal’s expertise and interactive approach made learning both engaging and practical.”
