An investiture ceremony instils leadership values, responsibility, and pride in student leaders. It marks their formal commitment to serve, uphold discipline, and lead by example within the school community. It marks a momentous occasion in the school calendar, symbolising the formal induction of newly elected student leaders. The ceremony not only acknowledges leadership potential but also inspires young students to lead with dedication, vision, and commitment.
Keeping this in mind, Apeejay School, Noida, held its Investiture Ceremony for the senior school (Classes IX to XII) on July 19, 2025, in the school auditorium. The event marked the official appointment of the student leadership for the 2025–26 academic year.
The Chief Guest for the ceremony was Major General (Dr) Rajendra Bana, a decorated Army veteran who was given a green welcome by Dr Neha Sharma (Principal). Present were, Ms Amrita Hajela (Vice-principal, Senior School), and Ms Puneeta Bhasin (Vice-principal, Junior School). The event was also graced by esteemed parents.
The ceremony opened with the traditional lighting of the lamp amid the chanting of Shubham Karoti Kalyanam by the students. Major General (Dr) Bana, joined by the Principal, Vice-Principals, and parents, was invited to take part in this symbolic gesture that embodies the dispelling of darkness and the ushering in of knowledge, wisdom, and enlightenment.
Dr Sharma then took the stage to give a heartfelt welcome to the Chief Guest and the parents. “I’m incredibly proud of our newly elected Prefectorial Board. This year, they earned their positions through a democratic process: Campaigning, canvassing, and winning the votes of their peers. Their roles are not just honorary; they come with real responsibility. I trust they will lead with integrity, uphold our school’s values, and make us all proud,” she said.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Guest said, “It’s a true privilege to be part of this moment and this school’s remarkable legacy. I congratulate the newly elected Prefectorial Board; your selection reflects not just ability, but trust. To me, leadership is built on three pillars: integrity, discipline, and a deep sense of duty. These are not heavy ideals, but daily choices. I urge you to lead with courage, honour your roots, embrace mistakes as part of learning, and trust your creative instincts. You’re not waiting for change—you are the change. Best wishes as you carry this legacy forward.”
The much-anticipated moment arrived — the ceremonial presentation of badges. Major General (Dr) Bana, Dr Neha Sharma, and the Vice-Principal were invited to the stage to formally invest the newly appointed student leaders with their insignia of responsibility. And it started with the newly appointed School Head Girl, Yesha Singh, and School Head Boy, Mohammad Akmal. The badges of office were conferred upon the Vice-head girl and the vice-head boy.
It was then time for the Sports Captains to be formally invested with their badges, followed by badge presentation to the Head of Committee, Discipline. It was then time for the student councils to take their place (from Classes XI and XII). It was then time to announce the House Prefects and Vice-prefects from Tagore House, Gandhi House, Radhakrishnan House, and Nehru House. The House Prefects were handed their respective House flags by the respective House wardens.
The Chief Guest then presented the badges to the editorial team of the school magazine. The Atal Tinkering Lab heads took the stage and accepted their responsibilities. Then, Class representatives, from Classes IX to XII, were invested with their badges, as were the Eco Champions and YANA Ambassadors.
All the Prefectorial Board members were administered the oath by Dr Sharma. The Chief Guest was then felicitated by the Principal, a token of appreciation.
The newly elected Head Boy and Head Girl expressed deep gratitude for the trust placed in them. They reflected on their journey, the support of peers, teachers, and parents, and the values instilled by the school. Emphasising humility, connection, and responsibility, they pledged to lead with integrity, serve with empathy, and honour every voice in the student community throughout the year ahead.
This was followed by a heartfelt vote of thanks for the Chief Guest and the esteemed parents. The event concluded with the singing of the school song: Hum Bachche Apeejay Ke.
