At Apeejay School, Tanda Road, Jalandhar, learning is always a joyful experience. This was evident during the recently held Subject Enrichment Activities for the UKG students. Designed to make academic concepts enjoyable and relatable, the activities focused on the subjects of Hindi and numeracy. The vibrant sessions combined creativity with curriculum, allowing young learners to explore foundational skills in fun and meaningful ways.
Letter and Object Matching: A Hindi learning delight
The Hindi activity saw a delightful flurry of excitement. Each student had the chance to draw two letters from a box — letters taken from commonly used Hindi words. The challenge? Match them with real-life or pictorial objects that start with those letters.
This simple yet thoughtful activity did more than bring smiles. It helped the children reinforce their letter recognition skills. More importantly, it allowed them to connect letters with their everyday surroundings. With keen eyes and eager hands, they searched for matches and shared their findings with classmates and teachers. The interactive approach built vocabulary, encouraged communication, and nurtured curiosity, which are core elements of language development.

Counting Gets Creative: Learning the number name 11
In the numeracy segment, the focus shifted to numbers, particularly the number name ‘11’. But the challenge wasn’t just about spelling. It was about creating something memorable. Children crafted colourful coasters using exactly 11 popsicle sticks. With vibrant designs and personal touches, each coaster became a unique keepsake. As they counted and glued the sticks together, the children were unconsciously revising the number and its spelling. The activity, guided by a play-way method, not only enhanced numerical understanding but also developed fine motor skills and creativity.
What made it even more special? The coasters were meant to be taken home and shared with their families, turning a learning exercise into a cherished gift.

Learning beyond books
These enrichment activities reflect Apeejay School, Tanda Road’s commitment to holistic education. By combining fun with foundational concepts, the school ensures that young learners are not just academically equipped but also emotionally and socially enriched. For the UKG students, this was not just another school day — it was a day full of exploration, learning, and joy.
