Inspiring youth to embrace their democratic rights

National Voters’ Day is celebrated aiming to encourage voter participation and highlight the importance of voting in a democracy. It marks the foundation day of the Election Commission of India, promoting electoral awareness, empowering citizens, especially the youth, and fostering an inclusive, informed, and vibrant democratic process.

Thus recognising the importance of creating awareness on the importance of voting, Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar recently observed National Voters Day with the motto to make students more responsible and good citizens.

On this occasion, Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal, emphasised, “Our college always strives to make its students socially responsible and a good human being by involving them in such social tasks and imbibing moral values in them while making them understand to use their right to vote appropriately.”

Further, Dr. Simkee Dev, Dean NSS Wing, said, “When it comes to voting, even one vote can make a difference. So, we must use our rights wisely to contribute to the growth of our nation.” She also shared that ‘Voters Day’ has been celebrated continuously by our government since 2011.

Dr Monika Anand Head from the Department of Home Science made students take the oath to always have integrity and choose the right path.

Additionally, 500 students from Jalandhar district participated in Election Quiz organised by the Punjab Government in which Pragati, a student of Bachelor of Design at ACFA, bagged the top position at district level and thus became eligible to participate at state level.
