Inspiring Young Minds: Highlights from Day 1 of Dr Stya Paul Memorial Competitions

On November 29-30, 2024, Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, proudly hosted the prestigious Dr Stya Paul Memorial Inter-school Competitions. This annual event, launched in 2011, honours the remarkable legacy of Founder-Chairman, Dr Stya Paul, Apeejay Stya and Svran Group celebrating his vision of holistic education and excellence.

The event commenced on November 30, 2024, with a vibrant inaugural ceremony. A traditional tilak ceremony warmly welcomed participants from seven schools, totaling 104 students. The event opened with the symbolic lighting of the lamp, representing knowledge and wisdom.

Principal Dr Vineet Vasishtha delivered an inspiring address, reflecting on Dr Stya Paulji’s incredible journey — from overcoming the challenges of polio to becoming a celebrated industrialist, philanthropist, and educationist. He emphasised the importance of nurturing creativity and critical thinking, values deeply rooted in Dr Stya Paulji’s philosophy.

He remarked, “The Dr Stya Paul Memorial Inter-school Competitions exemplify the vision of our Founder-Chairman, Dr Stya Paul, Apeejay Stya and Svran Group, who believed in nurturing students’ talents beyond academics. These competitions are a platform for holistic development, encouraging teamwork, perseverance, and excellence.”

Showcasing Talent: The Debate Competitions

The highlight of Day 1 was the Inter-school Debate Competition, which took place in the school auditorium. Divided into senior and junior categories, this event showcased exceptional oratory skills and critical thinking.

The senior group debated the topic, The SDGs Are Not on Track, while the junior group discussed, Is Tourism Good or Bad for the Environment? Participants demonstrated deep insight and confidence, impressing both the audience and the esteemed panel of judges— Ms Pooja and Mrs Madhu.

In the senior category: First Position: Bhoomika (class XI, Aryans Model School); Second Position: Anshika (class X, Red School); Third Position: Amishi (class X, Aryans Model School). The Consolation Prize: Kirti (class X, Red School)

In the junior category: First Position: Akshika (class VIII, Aryans Model School); Second Position: Garvit (class VIII, Red School); Third Position: Akshita (class VIII, Aryans Model School). The Consolation Prize: Manvi (class VI, Aryavrat School)

During the judgment phase, Navasha, a class VI student, enthralled the audience with a captivating dance performance. Her graceful movements added vibrancy and joy to the event. The competition concluded with the distribution of prizes and participation certificates. Winners were awarded trophies, and schools received participation mementoes as tokens of appreciation. The judges were also honoured with gifts, acknowledging their valuable contributions.

The day ended with the National Anthem, leaving participants and attendees inspired, motivated, and eager for the next day’s events.

Day 1 of the Dr Stya Paul Memorial Inter-school Competitions was a testament to the power of education to inspire and uplift. With students showcasing their talents, engaging in meaningful discussions, and learning invaluable life skills, the event truly reflected Dr Stya Paul’s legacy of excellence and holistic growth.
