Shahida Begum, a BA B.Ed student from the School of Education (SoE) at Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram shares her enriching learning journey shaped by a supportive, learner-centric academic environment. Through interactive classroom practices, experiential learning, and strong faculty mentorship, she highlights how the programme seamlessly blends theory with real-world school experiences. How would you describe the overall teaching–learning environment in the School of Education at Apeejay Stya University?

It is highly supportive and learner-centered. It encourages us in  open interaction without any hesitation, critical thinking, and active participation, creating a healthy and comfortable academic atmosphere .

In what ways do your teachers make classroom teaching interactive, engaging, and connected to real school practices?

Teachers use interactive strategies such as discussions, case studies, lesson planning, and real-life examples. They often relate theoretical concepts to real classroom situations and help  us understand actual school practices.

How effectively are innovative teaching methods such as experiential learning, ICT integration, group discussions, or projects used in your programme?

Innovative teaching methods are used very effectively. Experiential learning, ICT tools, presentations, group discussions, and project-based learning help us actively engage with the content and develop practical teaching skills and also theoretical knowledge.

Do you feel that the curriculum prepares you well for the realities of school teaching and professional life? Please share an example.

Yes, the curriculum prepares us well for real school teaching and professional life. For example, activities like lesson planning, school internships, and classroom management practices help us gain confidence and understand the responsibilities of a teacher in real classroom settings.

How would you evaluate the assessment and evaluation system in terms of fairness, transparency, and continuous feedback?

The assessment and evaluation system is fair, transparent, and well-structured. Continuous internal assessments, clear evaluation criteria, and regular feedback help us identify our strengths and  weaknesses for improvement .

In what ways do internal assessments, practicum, school internships, and reflective assignments help in your professional growth as a future teacher?

All these play a crucial role in our professional growth by providing teaching experience, improving reflective thinking, enhancing classroom skills, and helping us apply theory into practice effectively.

How supportive and approachable are the faculty members when it comes to academic guidance, mentoring, and evaluation feedback?

The faculty members are very supportive, approachable, and encouraging. They provide regular academic guidance, mentoring, and feedback, which helps us improve both academically and professionally.

What role do seminars, workshops, FDPs, community engagement, and co-curricular activities play in enhancing your learning experience?

Seminars, workshops, FDPs, community engagement, and co-curricular activities change our perspective in a positive way, enhance professional skills, and promote lifelong learning by giving us new ideas, practices, and real-world experiences.

How does Apeejay Stya University contribute to your holistic development beyond academics—such as leadership, values, and social responsibility?
