India’s first AI university set to open soon

Amaravati is poised to emerge as a major centre for Artificial Intelligence (AI) education with the launch of India’s first dedicated AI university, scheduled to begin operations on February 19, 2026. The initiative marks a significant step in Andhra Pradesh’s vision to position itself at the forefront of emerging technologies and future-ready education. 

With preparations now in their final stages, the institution set for inauguration underscores the state’s proactive approach towards technological advancement and skill development.

A key highlight of the project is the government’s collaboration with global technology leader Nvidia. The partnership is expected to bring cutting-edge infrastructure, advanced research capabilities, and industry-aligned curricula to the university.

The university aims to equip the youth of Andhra Pradesh with critical AI skills, foster innovation, and prepare a workforce capable of leading the next wave of digital transformation. Once fully operational, the institution is expected to play a pivotal role in establishing Andhra Pradesh as a national hub for AI, driving both economic growth and human capital development.

The university iis being viewed as a continuation of that legacy, with the potential to usher in a new era of technology-driven education in India.
