India’s Data Science education may boom to $1.39B by 2028

The Data Science Education Report 2023 from Imarticus Learning reveals that the global data science education sector is anticipated to reach $378.7 billion by 2030. Notably, India’s Data Science education sector is projected to experience a remarkable growth from $204.23 million in 2023 to $1.391 billion by 2028, reflecting a robust compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 57.52 per cent. This surge is attributed to a paradigm shift toward data-driven decision-making in various industries. Concurrently, the online education sector is expected to witness significant expansion, increasing from $76.20 million to $533.69 million.

The report highlights substantial growth in the Big Data and Analytics job market, with 2,15,793 open positions available at present. Projections indicate a surge in Big Data job opportunities, surpassing 3,38,000 by 2028. Indian organisations fostering data-driven cultures and adopting Big Data Analytics technologies are key contributors to the sector’s increasing profitability. Major recruiters, including Amazon, AWS, Bain and Company, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, and Google, are actively seeking data science professionals, offering annual remuneration packages ranging from Rs 6.5 lakh to Rs 35.1 lakh.

India’s emergence as a Big Data Analytics powerhouse is underscored by an estimated 30.1 per cent CAGR. The country is positioned to become a global leader in Big Data Analytics, with the industry’s value projected to grow from $5.7 billion in 2022 to a substantial $30.7 billion by 2027. During this period, The country is expected to capture 32 per cent of the global analytics market, creating significant educational and employment opportunities as well.

Key positions driving the expansion of the data science sector include Data Scientists (10.9 per cent), Data Analysts (10.7 per cent), and Business Analysts (10 per cent). Additionally, there is a demand for Financial Analysts (5.3 per cent), Big Data Engineers (4.2 per cent), Data Specialists (1.2 per cent), Business Intelligence Analysts (1.2 per cent), and Data Science Managers (0.9 per cent). The report also highlights a growing demand for professionals with expertise in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and computer vision, critical technologies driving innovation in AI applications across diverse industries.
