In response to the surging demand for Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills, Indian universities are aligning their programmes to produce industry-ready graduates equipped to lead in the AI and IT sectors. A recent SAP report highlights that AI adoption is now a key focus for 66% of mid-market businesses in India, emphasising the urgent need for skilled AI talent.
Despite growing AI adoption, 39% of businesses identify talent acquisition as a significant challenge, underscoring the critical role of universities in filling this gap. Looking ahead, the influence of AI is expected to reshape industry roles, but human skills remain essential. Engineers may need to integrate technical knowledge with insights from Humanities to address complex future challenges.
As India’s IT sector evolves, universities are preparing students not only to meet current demands but also to drive future innovations, positioning India as a global leader in the AI and digital technology landscape.
