Stella Alby is a brilliant student artist pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in architecture from Apeejay Institute of Technology – School of Architecture & Planning (AIT-SAP). She is a great fan of Vincent Van Gogh’s impressionist artwork and the influence has rubbed off well on her. One look at her 3-D wall mural art work and you too would agree. Selected in this week’s Apeejay Aspiring Artist series, let us know about Stella’s artistic vision, hopes and aspirations in this interview. Read edited excerpts:
Since when have you been drawing Stella?
I drew periodically when I was younger, but I began doing it more frequently ever since I joined college. Architecture has been a catalyst to my drawing.

Which art form intrigues you the most and why?
My favourite art form is impressionism given birth to by the legendary painter Vincent Van Gogh. Because of its fluidity in artwork and the depiction of story through his work, an impressionist artwork captivates everyone.
And how does AIT-SAP encourage you as an artist?
AIT-SAP contributes towards enhancing my sketching skills with the guidance of faculty and occasional workshops. .
Every artist has their definition of art. What’s yours?
For me, art is a sense of freedom to escape from reality and it gives me an opportunity to explore and learn new art forms and inspire others through it.
How much time does it take you to complete 1 artwork? What are your common ideas and themes?
It depends on the artwork that I’m willing to do. I generally sketch whenever I get time. Portraits and animated cartoons are my common ideas.
Upcoming artworks?
My new artwork will be a group picture of my friends in vector art form.
One new artform you wish to learn?
I always wanted to learn graphic designing. It is on my bucket list.
Finally, other hobbies apart from art?
I enjoy reading books, listening to music, and traveling.
