A journalist is often to as the fourth pillar of democracy in India. They have the right to question the system or any establishment regarding their policies and present this information to readers or viewers. In simpler terms, a journalist serves as the eyes and ears of the public, bringing them information about events that shape their understanding of the world.
To accomplish the task of information dissemination, journalists use a fundamental rule known as the “5Ws and 1H,” which stands for Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How. These question-forming words are crucial in ensuring accurate and comprehensive reporting. They help journalists gather and deliver the news or content effectively.

Throughout my learning at Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication, I have imbibed the importance of these 5Ws and 1H. Equipped with strong writing skills from our faculty, I look forward to applying these learnings throughout my journalistic career. The 5Ws and 1H serve as the foundation of any report written by a journalist. By answering these questions, journalists can bring clarity, context, and credibility to their reporting, enabling readers to make informed decisions and engage with their surroundings. These question-forming tools are essential in delivering informative and unbiased content to readers worldwide.
