
Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA) in Jalandhar recently hosted an inter-college rangoli and poster making competition on the occasion of ‘Voters Day. Around 25 students from various colleges in Jalandhar participated in this event, with the primary objective of raising awareness about the importance of voting among the general public and students.
The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation, reflecting a shared commitment to promoting civic responsibility and active participation in the democratic process. Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal of ACFA, emphasised the significance of casting a vote as a fundamental political right for every Indian citizen. She highlighted the college’s dedication to providing platforms that contribute to shaping responsible and informed citizens.
Students shine out in the competition as Kundan Kumar from Lyallpur Khalsa College in Jalandhar secured the first position in the competition, showcasing exceptional skills in rangoli creation. The second position was claimed by Amrit Sagar Aggarwal from Apeejay College of Fine Arts, while the third position was shared by Divya and Kajal from BD Arya College in Jalandhar Cantt. Vinshika Sood and Mohit Dhaliwal from CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur Campus, received a consolation prize for their commendable efforts.
The winners were honoured with certificates, recognising their artistic achievements and contributions to the event. Dr. Neerja Dhingra commended the efforts of Dr. Rimpy Agarwal, Head of the Department of Fine Arts, and Dr. Jeevan Kumari for their seamless coordination of the entire competition.
The successful execution of the rangoli and poster making competitions not only celebrated artistic talent but also fulfilled the broader objective of fostering awareness about the significance of active participation in the electoral process, thereby reinforcing the values of democracy among the student community and the public at large.
