Recently, Apeejay’s IB School, Apeejay School International, Panchsheel Park, successfully hosted an enriching and thought-provoking Science Week. The exhibition, which commenced at 1:30 pm onwards, transformed the school campus into a dynamic hub of curiosity, creativity, and scientific inquiry, as students from MYP 1 to MYP 4 showcased the outcome of days of rigorous research, experimentation, and collaborative learning.

The event was graced by the presence of the school Vice-principal, Ms Neha Sharma, along with teachers and proud parents, who witnessed firsthand the depth of understanding and enthusiasm with which students presented their projects. The exhibition stood as a testimony to the IB philosophy of experiential learning, where students are encouraged to explore, question, and connect knowledge across disciplines.

The wide range of exhibits reflected both variety and originality, covering concepts from Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Science. Among the many captivating projects were Marble Run models demonstrating problem-solving physics, where kinetic energy was seamlessly transformed into thermal energy, Dancing Popcorn, Precipitation Reaction (Curd to Paneer), Static Electricity demonstrations, Cup Telephone, Windmill-Wind to Spin, Car on a Curved Run, Blood Model in a Bottle, Neuron Model, Sound Testing Experiments, Seed to Plant growth models, Transformation to Light, Neutralisation Tests using Litmus Paper, Potato Battery showcasing diffusion, and Solar Power models, among several others. Each exhibit was thoughtfully curated, explained with confidence, and presented with remarkable clarity by the students.

One of the most notable exhibits was a cross-disciplinary project combining Physics and Biology, presented by Alessandra Angela Sandolini, a student of MYP 2. Her project seamlessly integrated a detailed Animal Cell model with a Physics concept of Wheel and Axle. Engaging visitors right from the start, Alessandra began by asking about their subject preferences before delving into her explanation.

Sharing her experience, she said, “My favourite part of this project was working on the animal cell because I love studying biology. It took me almost ten days to complete the entire project, and I received valuable support from my friends and family.” Her confidence and clarity reflected both her passion and the guidance provided through the learning process.

Equally impressive was the work of Himav Berlia and Navya Gupta, students of MYP 3, who presented multiple projects, including Photosynthesis, Atomic Structure, Saturated Fats, DNA Models, and an eye-catching Wave Machine. The highlight of their display, a sound chain reaction model, was creatively topped with gummy bears for an engaging visual effect. The duo dedicated nearly 10 hours to building the structure. Explaining their teamwork, it was shared that Himav focused on research and coding, while Navya brought creativity and visual appeal to the project, showcasing exemplary collaboration and planning.

Another insightful exhibit focused on Kidney Stones, exploring how they form, preventive measures to avoid them, and ways the body can manage or break them down. Vamika and Sarthak, students of MYP 3, used clay models to depict the stones and explained the concept in a simplified yet informative manner. “It took us four days to build this project. Our parents supported us at home, and our teachers guided us throughout the process,” they shared, reflecting the strong home-school partnership encouraged by the institution.

Parents expressed immense pride and appreciation for the initiative and the students’ independence. Ms Eleonora, mother of Aknur (MYP 4) and Merey (MYP 2), shared, “It was a very well-planned and thoughtfully executed exhibition. The confidence with which students explained complex concepts was truly commendable. I was amazed to see creativity come alive in such a structured and meaningful way.”

Echoing similar sentiments, Ms Gresha and Mr Joy, parents of Aidaan Sen Gupta, student of MYP 1, remarked, “What stood out for us was how well-researched and aware the students were about their topics. The school has played a huge role in nurturing this confidence. Our child didn’t even ask for help; he simply asked us to come and witness his work. That independence was the biggest highlight for us.”

The success of the exhibition was further strengthened by the exceptional mentorship and guidance of Ms Kanika Goel, the Art Facilitator, whose encouragement empowered students to express their ideas freely and confidently. Her support ensured that every student’s voice was heard and every concept was brought to life with clarity and purpose.

Overall, Science Week at Apeejay’s IB School was a powerful celebration of innovation, inquiry, and student-led learning. It not only showcased scientific concepts but also highlighted critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity, skills that lie at the heart of IB education. The exhibition truly reflected how young minds, when nurtured in the right environment, can transform ideas into impactful learning experiences.
